Our Beginnings
When my partner and I travelled far across the ocean from China to this foreig in 2001 carrying heavy debts, but we never dreamed of getting rich overnight. We toiled away starting in the south of Ireland and later moving to Donegal.
In 2010, we opened our first business Shangri-La at Letterkenny simply hoping to earn an honest living with our own hands.
A taste of home, a touch of Ireland
For 20+ years in Ireland, our goals go far beyond just making a living. We adapt the homely flavours of our homeland into fusion dishes suited for Irish tastes.
We all hope overseas Chinese can find comfort of home here, while locals can feel the warmth of Chinese food and the Chinese culture.
Our Family
Our children were raised right here in Ireland. From the time they were young, they were practically running around inside our restaurant. For nearly every Chinese‑immigrant household, growing up helping out in at the family restaurant is something that was almost unavoidable.
We even have a light‑hearted running joke within our community:
"If you step into a Chinese restaurant and don't see the owner’s children helping out, chances are it is not real authentic Chinese."
